Working With Wyrd Technology

Wyrd Technology is a small consultancy led by Tim Huegdon. I help engineering leaders work out how to operate now that AI contributes code, through process and communication consulting and through mentoring. I am based in Australia and work remotely with clients globally.

Who this suits

  • CTOs, CEOs and heads of engineering of organisations of up to about 100 people.
  • Leaders who want an experienced outside view of how their team really works, and what AI is changing about it.
  • Teams that would rather fix the process than buy another tool.

It is probably not the right fit if you want a vendor to sell you a platform. I am an independent advisor, and I say so when someone else would serve you better.

How it works

1. A free introductory conversation

Fifteen to thirty minutes about the problem you are seeing. I give you my initial thoughts and proposals. There is no obligation to continue.

2. A fixed-price audit

An audit of one or two weeks, depending on team size. It looks at process and communication: which feedback loops are broken, which artefacts have no readers, and which practices are doing real work and which are habit. The scope and price are agreed before it starts.

3. A monthly retainer

For ongoing mentoring and advisory work. Even a lightweight second opinion tends to be valuable. Where a longer commitment makes sense, fractional or interim engineering leadership is also possible, as described on the engineering leadership page.

Individual first, teams as follow-on

Consultancy is handled by me directly. If an engagement then calls for more people, I can bring in engineers from a network I know and trust, and I can staff other roles where they are needed. Teams are a follow-on to the advice, not where it starts.

Where I work

I am based in Australia and work with clients globally. I prefer asynchronous communication, which makes working across time zones practical, and I will work within your time zone where needed.

Questions

What do you work on?

The five areas on the services page: AI transformation, engineering leadership, software development, delivery measurement and operational excellence, and hiring, coaching and mentoring.

Can I read how you think before we talk?

Yes. The topic guides group the writing by the questions leaders ask. Are We Rearranging AI Deck Chairs? and Is Anybody Actually Reading This? are good places to start.

Is the audit a software tool or a report?

It is my own review of how your team works, agreed in scope beforehand. I do not require you to install anything.

How do I start?

Email enquiries@wyrd-technology.com with a few lines about the problem. I aim to respond within 48 hours.
